Sheroes Founder

Capt. Julie brings together a diverse background in banking, community lending, real estate renovation, and small business ownership. Her experience includes renovating more than 15 homes, operating two Airbnbs, and managing a small charter business—each venture grounded in leadership, service, and community impact.

In 2022, Capt. Julie earned her U.S. Coast Guard “6-Pack” Captain’s License, designating her as a Master Captain qualified to operate vessels under 100 gross tons. These vessels are commonly used for charter fishing, scalloping, SCUBA diving, and eco-tour cruises.

That same year, conversations with fellow women veterans revealed a striking disparity: while male veterans were frequently invited to participate in charter fishing trips, women veterans were often left out. Recognizing the importance of connection, healing, and time on the water, Capt. Julie took action.

Using prize money she and her team won in a Ladies Fishing Tournament, she founded SHEROES,Warriors on Water, nonprofit organization dedicated to creating on-the-water experiences specifically for women veterans. Through SHEROES, participants enjoy fishing, scalloping, swimming with manatees, eco tours, and other water-based activities designed to foster camaraderie, relaxation, and empowerment.

With support from donations and fundraising events, SHEROES strives to host at least one trip each month—ensuring women veterans have consistent opportunities to connect, recharge, and thrive on the water.
